Le Industrie Invisibili

Hollowood Bedroom / The Gold is over

Le Industrie Invisibili Institute of Geoethics (LII-IGE), in cooperation with the Science of Fiction Entertainment Technologies (SoFiET), present their latest production, a two-part project which is going to be exposed on June 3 rd at Raid Projects, Los Angeles.

The Hollowood Bedroom is part of the Geoethics Building, a "meta-architectural", ongoing project consisting in several rooms scattered around the world. This "room" consists in a double black curtain, which cuts out a "reserved" space between reality and fiction, or between wake and slumber. It's both a curtain and a bellows, which only air is allowed to enter into, because the air (the breath) is the only thing that a sleeping body exchanges with the outside world, differencing it from a dead body.

The Gold is over is a series of photos taken with a home made pinhole camera (a very primitive kind of camera with a tiny hole in place of the lens). The photos are snapshots of an imaginary feature film, taken in some of the many Californian "ghost towns", which were abandoned after the Gold rush. These images portrait the dead dwellers of these towns, who visit us in the dreams and tell us the right numbers to win the Lotto and find the lost Gold.

Le Industrie Invisibili (LII) is a cooperative project involving artists, professionals and interested people of all kinds. Its goal is to produce and distribute objects, actions, situations focusing on everyday life, showing how everyday gestures and objects can be exceptional, surprising, sometimes even confusing, disturbing or upsetting.

Under its many names and branch firms, LII has created several kinds of products and services: a table-bed where people can eat, sleep, bear children and die ( Project for Total Furnishing , 2001); a table at which people can have coffee in the morning and camomile tea in the evening ( East-West Table , 2002); a series of promotional actions, during which an actress tries to sell public domain goods ( Dumping Strategies , 2002-2005); a fundraising to build a monument to a schizophrenic artist, based on gambling ( Monument to Adolf WoNlfli , 2003-ongoing); a Deflation Chamber (2006) where people can freeze their Identity before entering an Art museum.
